Lynchburg City Criminal History is a private reference site, not an office of the independent City of Lynchburg or the Commonwealth of Virginia. Official records remain with the agency that created or maintains them. Lynchburg Police handles its reports, the Circuit and General District clerks maintain their court files, and the Virginia Department of State Police controls statewide criminal-history products. The contacts below route requests to those custodians without suggesting that a separate county government exists.

This Is Not a Government Office. This privately run reference site cannot retrieve an official record, conduct a government background check, correct or remove a record, or receive an expungement filing. The responsible public office must handle each of those services.

Need an Official Record?

Lynchburg is an independent city and county-equivalent. Use the office tied to the record you need:

There is no single counter for every Lynchburg record. Police requests go to the LPD Records Unit, court documents go to the clerk at 900 or 905 Court Street, and City Hall can route a VFOIA request when the correct city department is unclear.
